Locking the manifest of an exhibit has few affects that protect an exhibit from accidental changes. The first being that the manifest containing exhibit-specific settings, statuses, and controls will be “locked” in the Gumband services. This means that that changing the manifest.json file for a locked exhibit will not affect the exhibit’s manifest in the Gumband database. The second feature is that an exhibit with a locked exhibit can not be deleted from Gumband.

How to lock and unlock an exhibit manifest

There is a Lock icon next to the name of every exhibit on the exhibit screen. When the lock is open, that indicates that that exhibit’s manifest is unlocked. When a lock is closed, the exhibit’s manifest is locked. Click the lock icon will open a pop-up modal allowing users with proper permissions to toggle the manifest-lock state of an exhibit.

Disabled Delete for Manifest-Locked Exhibits

As stated above, Gumband will not allow users to delete exhibits that are manifest locked. When a user attempts to delete a manifest-locked exhibit, the following modal will appear.

Likewise, when attempting to delete sites and organizations that contain manifest-locked exhibits, a modal will appear with links to each of the locked exhibit that a user has permissions to.
